Cursive X: Copy and Paste, How to Write It + Free Worksheet

How to write a cursive capital X
- From the top line, sweep a curved stroke down and to the right, all the way to the baseline, finishing with a small tail.
- Lift the pen. From the top right, sweep a second curve down and to the left, crossing the first stroke in the middle.
- The two curves should cross at the centre, making four even openings.
How to write a lowercase x in cursive
- From the baseline, draw an under-curve up to the midline β the standard entry.
- Curve over like the start of an n hump, but let the downstroke slant to the right as it falls to the baseline.
- Finish with a tail and carry on writing the rest of the word.
- After the word is complete, lift the pen and draw a short slash through the middle of the letter, top-left to bottom-right⦠crossing the first stroke cleanly.
Connecting x to other letters
Group the x with your end-of-word marks: dot the i’s and j’s, cross the t’s, and slash the x’s, all in one final pass. The x is rare in English β box, next, exact β so when it appears, take the extra half-second to place the cross through the true middle.

Do you cross a cursive x while writing or after?
After β the same rule as crossing a t. The main stroke stays in the flow of the word; the slash is added once the word is done.
Why does my cursive x look like an n?
You have written the main stroke but skipped the cross. Without the slash, the shape is genuinely just a slanted hump β the cross is half the letter.
