How to write a cursive capital E
- Start at the midline with a small inward loop.
- Sweep out and down in a large curve to the baseline — the shape of a rounded, reversed 3.
- Round the bottom and finish with an upward tail to the right.
How to write a lowercase e in cursive
- From the baseline, draw a short upstroke toward the midline.
- Loop over to the left, crossing your upstroke just below the midline.
- Come down to the baseline in a small curve.
- Finish with an upward tail to the right. The whole letter is one small continuous loop.
Connecting e to other letters
Because e follows almost everything, its entry adapts constantly: after a baseline letter it rises normally, and after a bridge letter like b, o, v or w it hangs from the midline and the loop flattens — practise be and ve until that squashed e feels natural. The double e in see and been is the classic rhythm drill.

Cursive E questions
Why is my cursive e just a slanted line?
The loop has collapsed. Slow down and make the upstroke and downstroke visibly cross — there must be daylight inside the loop, however small.
What is the difference between cursive e and cursive l?
Same motion, different size: e loops to just above the midline, l loops all the way to the top line.
