How to write a cursive capital N
- Start at the top line with a small curl and draw a tall downstroke to the baseline.
- Retrace up and curve over in a large hump back down to the baseline.
- Finish with an upward tail to the right.
How to write a lowercase n in cursive
- From the baseline, draw an under-curve up to the midline.
- Curve over and down to the baseline — hump one.
- Retrace up and curve over again — hump two — and come down to the baseline.
- Finish with an upward tail to the right.
Connecting n to other letters
The n hump is the template arch of the alphabet: h, m and the exit of y all borrow it, so a clean n improves four letters at once. Keep the two humps twins, and drill the everyday joins an, in, on and en — four of the most frequent pairs in English.

Because a two-hump cursive n and a print m are genuinely the same silhouette — that is normal. In cursive context the count is what matters: n has two humps, m has three.
Should the two humps of the n be the same size?
