How to make bullet points in Discord
- Start the line with
-or*followed by a space. - Each new line starting the same way becomes another bullet.
- Indent two spaces before the dash to nest a sub-bullet.
Numbered lists work too: 1. 2. with a space. And Discord auto-continues — pressing Shift+Enter after a bullet starts the next one for you.
Bullet points in server rules and channels
The classic use is a #rules or #info channel. Combine with headers for sections and bold for the key words — a rules post with # headers + bullets + bold reads twice as well as a wall of text. In channel names, markdown is ignored; the dot-style bullets you see there are Unicode characters (• › ▸) pasted directly — grab them from the symbol library or the generator’s decorated styles.
List questions
Why isn’t my dash making a bullet?
The space after the dash is mandatory, and the dash must start the line. -item fails, – item works.
How do I stop the auto-bullet?
Press Shift+Enter on an empty bullet and Discord drops back to normal text — or just delete the auto-inserted dash.
