Big Text in Discord: How to Make Text Bigger (# Headers)

How to make text bigger in Discord

Big text in Discord = headers. Start a line with a hash and a space:

  1. # + space — the biggest text Discord can render.
  2. ## + space — medium.
  3. ### + space — slightly larger than normal.

Rules that trip people up: the hash must be at the very start of the line, the space after it is mandatory, and headers are one line each — the next line returns to normal size.

Big text in names

Headers don’t work in names. For a “bigger-looking” username, the tricks are visual weight, not size: Bold Sans and Wide Unicode styles from the font generator read larger at the same font size (Umar).

Big text questions

Why is my # showing as a hash instead of big text?

Either there’s no space after the # or it isn’t at the start of the line — both are required. Mid-line hashes stay literal.

Can I make an entire message big?

Put # at the start of every line. There’s no wrapper that enlarges a multi-line block at once.

What’s the opposite — small text?

Subtext: start the line with -#. Full guide: small text in Discord.
